Warmer weather coming means the blackberries should be in full swing in no time. I love eating them fresh, but I also enjoy using them in different recipes. I’ve gathered some fun ones to try and hopefully you’ll find some you’d like to share with your friends and family as well. You can cook blackberries into goodies for breakfast, mash them into a sauce for meat, or freeze them for dessert. See what you think!
Blackberry Muffins – Building Memories Together
This recipe uses a combination of whole wheat flour and oats, making it a healthier choice than muffins made with white flour. It also uses applesauce in place of oil, thus lowering the fat content a bit as well. There are a lot of photos showing the freshly baked muffins too, and they do look scrumptious!
Blackberry Fennel Pizza – Scaling Back
I really enjoy seeing the pictures accompanying the recipe in this post. It’s nice to know what the final product is supposed to look like. The option to choose between 3 different types of cheese Is also helpful, since I don’t fancy goat cheese on my pizza.
Frozen Yogurt Pops – Food Republic
What an excellent recipe for summer time! I always have plain yogurt in the fridge and love fresh blackberries, so I will be making these frozen yummies for sure.
Banana/Blackberry Smoothie – Crème de la Crumb
The color of the smoothie is beautiful! It makes me want to whip up a batch and have a party to serve them to all my friends. I think these would be tasty frozen into pops as well.
Blueberry/Blackberry Galette – My Recipes
My two favorite berries are used in this recipe. I’m sure you could use raspberries if you aren’t a big fan of blueberries, and the outcome would be just as delicious. The only thing missing in the directions for how to serve the galette was a dollop of whipped cream!
Spicy Blackberry Turkey Cutlets – Spark People
I’d use this recipe with some blackberry jam or preserves I’ve made myself, instead of buying a store-bought jar. You could use this recipe for chicken or pork too.
