It’s no secret that I love to cook in cast iron. I have a skillet/pot set that I use almost daily and I consider it one of my top 3 kitchen tools. This week I was researching desserts I might be able to cook in my cast iron skillet, specifically cast iron berry cobblers since we’re going berry picking this weekend.
I found so many cast iron dessert recipes I was beside myself! So, I decided it was time to collect them all into a post for you so you can drool over them too!
Cast Iron Blueberry Cobber – Cooking TV
This is, after all, what I went looking for so I decided it had best be first on the list! June is blueberry season and I’m hoping that this weekend our pails will be overflowing with deep blue berries. I know the boys’ faces will be stained purple and we’ll all be feeling good as we preserve some of the goodness by freezing berries we can later turn into cobblers like this one.
Blood Orange Upside Down Polenta Cake – Dash of East
I’ve made pineapple upsidedown cake in a cast iron dutch oven over coals, and while it was pretty it couldn’t hold a candle to this blood orange upsidedown cake from Dash of East! Just one glance at Melissa’s photos and I feel the need for a fancy tea party and some vanilla bean ice cream.

Cooking With Cast Iron
Cast Iron Apple Cobbler – Smith’s Vegan Kitchen
The soy butter and buttermilk don’t seem to affect the flakiness of this cobbler any! Apple pie and cobbler are my favorite so the photos alone are enough to make my mouth water!
Mouthwatering Cast Iron Strawberry Pie – MomPrepares
When it came time to find a photo for this post, I couldn’t! So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and make a dessert that would use in-season fruit. Now as I’m writing this I’m savoring a piece of warm strawberry pie that was so easy to make and turned a gorgeous golden color in my cast iron skillet!
Cast Iron Skillet Brownies – Simply Food Love
Dear Carla, I have just gained 10lb looking at the pictures of your gooey, buttery, chocolaty brownies. You can come to my house and cook for me any time.
Breakfast Inspired Cast Iron Desserts
Cast-Iron Fruit Cobbler Breakfast – Taste for Adventure
It may be called a breakfast cobbler, but I think it would be fantastic summer treat served with fresh and fluffy whipped cream and fresh berries and a glass of cold lemonade.
Cast Iron Apple Pancake – Throwback Road
Another breakfast inspired sweet that I can’t wait to try. Julia says to serve it with butter and maple syrup. I say add some ice cream and you’ve got yourself a savory dessert!
