I was raised in the south, but my dad didn’t like blackeye peas. We planted them, but always as a ground cover for the garden and never to eat. I was married before I tried blackeyed peas for the first time, and because I made them myself and had no idea what I was doing, I hated them. Again and again.
But, I kept trying, because my husband was raised eating them and he loves blackeyed peas. It took me a while, lots of mistakes and nearly in-edible tries, but I learned to like them and I did finally come up with a recipe we all like.
I shared this recipe for Smokey Blackeyed Peas over at UntrainedHousewife.com
