An often overlooked area of preparedness is that of important documents like medical records, birth certificates, land deeds and other personal documents. Should your home flood or catch fire or your family need to leave in a hurry these documents should be in an easy to access location that is also safe.
How to Store Family Documents
As we talk about in the video below you should always safeguard your family documents in a small fireproof safe. But, how you organize your important documents is up to you!
Some people like to use a notebook with sheet protectors. Others keep their personal documents in a large manila envelope or even separate labeled envelopes for each member of their family. However you store them be sure they are easily accessible when you need them. If dragging out the mini safe seems like a hassle make digital copies or even physical copies to keep in your file cabinet. Then at least you know you have the originals locked up and safe!
