Who’s ready for a last minute craft you can make for just a few dollars? Or, if you have these things on hand, for free! This Halloween vase is made from common items you can find at your local dollar store, and it takes just minutes to create.
Change it up with different stickers or different paint colors! Use a bowl instead of a vase and you’ve got a candy dish. Or a jar and you’ll have a great cookie jar! I think it would be cool to use empty babyfood jars and fill them with fun little toys or candy.
And you can repurpose the idea for other holidays!
What You’ll Need…
- $1 Glass Vase from the thrift store or dollar store
- Halloween/Fall themed stickers – 1 sheet for $1
- Spray Paint
- Tea-light Candle – package for $1
Many dollar-type stores will have glass vases for around a buck. You may find them even cheaper at a thrift store, and you’d be recycling something! While you’re out, pick up some fun foam stickers in the shapes you like. Add some tea light candles, or colorful tissue paper for the inside. Then head home and get started!
How to Make Your Own Halloween Vase
Plan out your design before you place the stickers. Leave some margin at the bottom of the vase so you won’t see the candle in the vase. Then put your stickers on carefully because you won’t want to move them around and leave glue residue on the glass where you’ll want paint to stick. Press the stickers down firmly so no paint will seep behind them.
Turn your vase upside down so no paint gets inside when you’re spraying. Use something to hold the vase up off the surface a bit… an egg carton works nice! Spray lightly and cover evenly. Depending on the glass and the paint you might want to plan on doing two coats so you can get the paint on nice and thick without it being runny and leaving drips.
When the vase is completely dry, carefully remove the stickers. Now you can use a candle to shine light through the shapes, or you can stuff the vase with colorful paper, then tuck in a few spooky looking black flowers!
