The holidays always bring about an opportunity to have some truly amazing parties – this is an excellent time of year to gather friends together for festivities. It doesn’t matter how large or small the party is, the fact that you all get to spend time together and enjoy one another’s company is all that matters. However, if you wish to show your hostess how grateful you are for being invited to one of these festive gatherings, then you might decide to give her a homemade gift: straight from your prepper pantry. How about a jar full of homemade hot cocoa mix? It’s an excellent way to use some of your stockpile, and make room for new goods.
Sprucing up the Jar:
Get creative with the outside of your jar. Sure, the layers of cocoa, sugar, milk, and creamer all look very nice, but you can add a bit of festiveness to the outside of the jar as well. Make a label out of an old Christmas card or a brightly colored piece of wrapping paper. It could simply say, “Hot Cocoa Mix”, or you could give it a fancy name of your own. Attach the label directly to the glass jar with tape or glue, or tie it with a strand of ribbon, twine, yarn, or string of any sort. Should you decide to add cinnamon sticks, wrap a piece of string around them and fix them to the top of the lid.
It also might be a good idea to let the hostess know how to use the cocoa mix! Add a set of simple instructions to the back of an attached label, or write them down on a short note hanging from the jar lid. For this particular recipe, just mix ¼ cup of mix into 8 oz of boiling water, and then let cool.
