Kerry is a mother, herbalist, ethnobotanist, teacher at the Herbal Academy Of New England, and the author of several books including The Incense Bible. Kerry believes plants hold specific medicinal, nutritional and spiritual properties that we crave in order to create a life for ourselves that is worth living. It is from this philosophy she builds an herbal practice.
Kerry is also the co-author of Botanical Medicines: The Desk Reference for Major Herbal Supplements and The Health Professional’s Guide to Dietary Supplements.
Listen to this podcast to hear Kerry share some information about how incense has been used through the years and how you can make your own. She also talks about the challenges of transitioning from California weather to Boston weather; how some herbs are better to harvest in the fall, like echinacea; foraging from your car; what a practicing herbalist does for clients; and how herbs could change the world.
Kerry also works with the United Nations as a consultant helping small companies and rural farmers in other countries with export problems. She works with the other countries to get their herbs into the United States.
