When it comes to bug-out bags and survival kits, it’s always helpful to have a wind up radio included. Make that a digital radio flashlight and you’ve got a real winner! BuyGreen.com offered to let me review this handy little device known as the Tuf Digital Radio Flashlight and I can’t wait to share it with you.
Why We Love the Tef Digital Radio Flashlight
My kids think it’s the best thing ever because it doesn’t need to be plugged in and if the batteries wear down, they can just wind it up again. Of course they haven’t been in a survival situation where they HAD to wind for a long time, but still, it’s totally feasible that we could pass the device around and generate enough power to use the light and radio!
We can use this device anywhere! In the backyard, in the garden, on a camping trip, or when bugging out!
The flashlight is bright. Like actually useable! I’ve seen a lot of wind-up survival type lights that provide just enough glow to call them a light. But, this thing has enough power for the LED lights to create a nice bright beam to light your way at night.
I love that it can also charge via a small solar panel on the top and it will charge your phone in an emergency too! Where our family camps at the lake cell phone signals are really spotty which means our phone batteries drain pretty quickly. Having a way to keep them charged in case of emergency is comforting.
It’s built well. I’m so pleased with how solid this device is. I don’t feel like I have to keep it out of the kids hands or worry about the antenae or crank handle snapping off when it’s in our bags which are always being tossed around. In fact, the crank handle folds up and snaps right into the housing. You wouldn’t even know it’s there!
Why Do You Need a Radio in Your Survival Kit?
If you’re lost or bugging out on your own, sometimes having something to listen to can bring comfort. It can also bring you news and weather alerts to you know when to take cover.
In case of a natural disaster, a radio is a great way to get updates on current events, evacuations and emergency alerts.
If you use your survival kit every time you go camping, you’ll enjoy having a radio to listen to some music or your favorite stations while you build the fire and set up the tent!
