It’s getting to be that time of year again – Christmas! Finding a great gift doesn’t have to be a stressful event. If you happen to have someone in your family who enjoys the outdoors, then have I got some excellent ideas for you! These gifts are perfect for the outdoorsy prepper in your life. Being a lover of the outdoors myself, I have tried a number of products over the years and find sometimes it is beneficial to pay a little bit more for an item that will last through much wear and tear. However, I did try to keep the following list free from gifts that are way too pricey.
Silva Lensatic 360 – Compass
I personally prefer liquid-filled compasses over the static kind, since they are more accurate in their readings. The liquid used isn’t water, so you don’t have to worry about the compass freezing in extremely cold weather. This particular compass, the Silva Lensatic, has a black powder coating over aluminum housing. There is a sighting slit in the top cover and the rotating bezel has luminous points to make reading bearings in low-light more manageable. This little beauty only weighs around 3 ounces and is heavy duty – you don’t have to worry about what’ll happen if you drop it.
Leatherman 831363 Multi-tool Supertool 300 Eod
Price: $66 – $80
I bought my first Leatherman multi-tool around 20 years ago. I still have it and use it very often, which is why I recommend this brand for those who need a good tool that will last. The tools included on this particular Leatherman are needlenose pliers, wire cutters, saw, 4 types of screwdrivers, wire stripper, can opener, bottle opener, an awl with thread loop, and much more. I like that Leatherman offers a 25 year limited warranty with this tool as well – these things stand up to some heavy use, but you never know, right?
