Aprille, another one of our great writers here on MomPrepares, has taken care of chickens since she was five years old. It was fun to interview her and hear her tips and stories from many years of raising chickens. You’ll hear that I obviously have NOT had chickens, but Aprille was very patient and answered all of my questions.
The Untrained Housewife’s Guide to Getting Prepared: Surviving Emergencies Without Stress is a beginner’s manual for how to get started feeling more confident and self-reliant during life’s unexpected happenings. This guide keeps the material approachable for beginners, while providing depth and details for more advanced preppers.
Aprille has had great success with Cochin Chickens being great egg layers and mamas to the chicks. She has had many kinds of coops, but prefers free range if she has a safe area for chickens. Listen to hear about the hen that hatched guinea hen eggs for her, the one legged rooster, and the chicken that thought her kittens were its siblings.
