I think even the minimalist prepper has a plan for lighting during an emergency. For most of us, that means a couple of flashlights and some candles for when power goes out. Now, raise your hand if you’ve stubbed your toe trying to get to that flashlight, or if you’ve found the candles during a power outage, but then can’t find the matches. Ok, you can put your hand down. I will too! I’ve always messed up when it comes to power outages, so I am so excited to tell you about an emergency lighting system I had the opportunity to test.
ReadyBright Emergency Lighting System
Recently, I received an emergency lighting system for the home called the ReadyBright system by Wireless Environment Companies. This system uses a wireless sensor system and battery powered LED lights to provide lighting during a power outage.
A Power Outage Detector(POD) that detects when power is lost to the outlet controls your ReadyBrite system. The POD looks like a remote control with a plug on the end, and uses a battery to continuing functioning during a power outage. The POD has 2 buttons to turn the lights on and off, and an awesome flashlight on the end. The flashlight automatically turns on when the power goes out so you can quickly see it. It also sends a wireless signal to sensors in other system lights (a ceiling light and path light is available) and they automatically come on, providing you with a surprisely bright light. No more stumbling in the dark to get to those flashlights! Best of all, the lights work for up to 40 hours!
What Came in the Box
Wireless Communications sent me a package containing the ReadyBright Starter House Kit with 1 plug in remote, one ceiling light, and one hallway light. The box also included 2 ways to attach the lights to the wall or ceiling (foam tape or screws) and batteries (the units needed C batteries , AA batteries and 1 of those batteries like you’d use in a cordless phone) so that I could give the ReadyBrite system a try. On their website, this package sells for about $70, and ships for free within the United States.
Standing Behind Their Product
The ReadyBright system comes with a one year warranty and a 30 day money back guarantee. I think that’s standing behind your product! If your system fails, or you don’t like the way it performs, you can return it and get your money back!
