After spending 4 full days on the road and 2 days with family in North Dakota I’m finally home. One of the first things I noticed when I got home was that our little dog had dug up the herbs in my planters. So, I’m going to have to replant most of those. The next thing I noticed? The growth in the garden beds!!!
Oh! And it finally rained. After more than 3 months without rain, we got a really nice all-night rain the night before we left. And I think it must have rained again when we were gone cause the plants seem really happy.
This girl is trouble with a capital T. Yes, she’s cute. But she’s also a lot of trouble. Meet Pi.
My greens aren’t doing so hot. Maybe the weather is still too warm. Maybe they got too much water while I was away. I don’t know. They just look pitiful. But, everything else grew like crazy in the 6 days I was away! And the jalapenos? Still producing. I picked and froze a bunch of them before I left. Yesterday I had to pick at least a pint more and there are still lots on the plants. I’m pretty sure I won’t need to buy any jalapenos this winter!
Here are my peas and green beans. There were just barely up when I left…
And here are the cukes and tomatoes!
I think this weekend we’ll be replanting some of the greens and lettuce, replanting herbs and maybe plugging in a few peas in a small spot where none came up. And weeding. We’ll be weeding. I did it before I left, but just like all the veggie plants, the weeds enjoyed the rain!!
What are you doing this weekend?
