If you’re like many people, you’ve probably had an interest in essential oils at some point in your life. Essential oils are everywhere you look. From grocery store shelves too high-end multi-level marketing companies. However, how do you know which oils to choose? How do you know how to use said oils once you’ve chosen them?
These are very important questions to ask. But there is one more question to ask yourself that is far more important than any other and that question is, “Where do you get solid information on essential oil safety, usage, and quality”?
There are so many courses, companies, and books available that claim to provide you with the best possible information in the world on essential oils. I’ve read a few of these books and visited some of the websites and really wasn’t all that impressed.
As a certified aromatherapist, I know what to look for in a basic essential oil course and all I was seeing was a lot of repetitive information. In some cases, I ran into courses that were simply too advanced for a beginning introduction to essential oils.
As a certified aromatherapist, my main goal is to see an essential oil course that is easy to understand, focuses on the basic principles of essential oil use, and promotes safety. A major red flag in the aromatherapy realm is seeing the promotion of consuming essential oils, in literature.
Introduction to Essential Oils Course Promotes Safety
You might be thinking that I’m going to be biased because I’m an aromatherapist, but let me give you a little background about myself. I never became an aromatherapist because essential oils where my lifelong passion.
I became an aromatherapist because I was tired of seeing people harm themselves with essential oils. In fact, I’m skeptical of any essential oil literature that I come across.
That is until I came across the Introduction to Essential Oils eCourse.
I had been looking for an easy-to-digest introduction to essential oils that friends, family, and other people could dive into to give them a basic understanding of how these precious plant nectars work. I did not want any unsafe information being pedaled to my people or even strangers for that matter. Essential oil safety was at the forefront of my radar.
As I entered the online course platform for the Introduction to Essential Oils, the first thing I looked for was a chapter on safety and I swiftly found it. It was relieving to see that the creators of this course included a section on safety and a lesson on essential oil misinformation and unsafe practices.
There is an entire section on why ingesting essential oils is a bad idea. I was impressed by this! Seeing this area on safety made me feel like the creators of the course care about their students.
Other safety topics included concentration and dilution ratios, storage, and cautions.
After each of the safety lessons concluded, there is a small test to make sure you understood the key points. Excellent!
Easy to Understand Information that Doesn’t Overwhelm the Reader
Every section of this essential oil course is broken down into bite-size morsels that are easy to digest. There isn’t a whole lot of scientific talk which is great because this is a beginner’s course and there is plenty of time for digging deeper into essential oils once you’ve learned the basics.
I was excited to see the section on Essential Oil Pathways. This part of the course teaches you how to use essential oils in the right way. I guess you could say it is another extension of how to use your oils safely. The instructions are to the point and easy to understand.
The lessons covers topical vs. inhalation. Methods of application, unsafe methods of application, and using carrier oils. Do you know how many people out there burn their skin or their children’s skin by applying essential oils directly to their bodies without using a carrier oil? A lot. It’s great to see that the creator of this course is speaking out against that practice.
Another section in the course discusses what constitutes as a carrier oil and what is an essential oil. It’s really important not to mix the two up or else you can harm yourself and others. I like how the course goes through the different types of carrier oils and how they affect the skin. For example, it is mentioned that certain oils are better than others for people who have skin sensitivities.
As you already know, I’m a huge fan of essential oil safety, and the lesson goes on to detail how to use carrier oils carefully with your essential oils. It’s all very good information. I appreciate that the creator of the lesson included dilution rates for mixing up the carrier and essential oils. It’s often very hard to find this kind of information on the internet because most people have no clue what they are doing and pedal a lot of dangerously wrong info. However, the creators of Introduction to Essential Oils nailed it.
Using Essential Oils on Your Family Members Needs to be Done with Care
It’s one thing to treat yourself like a guinea pig and experiment with essential oils on your skin but it is a completely different story to start doing so on your family members. I was majorly excited to see a lesson on using essential oils for your family’s health.
The information is laid out in a concise format that, again, was very easy to understand. There’s even a section on why making your cleaning products using essential oils is better than purchasing chemical-laden cleaners from the store.
I’m excited to see this truth being shared with the world because essential oils can clean a house far better than your basic sprays and disinfectants can, and they do so without harming your loved ones if used correctly. The lesson tells the reader how to safely make essential oil cleaning concoctions safely and even includes a few recipes.
The lesson goes on to detail how to organize your essential oils with proper labeling and storage measures. I enjoyed this section and learned a few tips and tricks myself! As an aromatherapist, you think you know a lot about this subject, but come to find out I learned a few things from this section of the course that will help me keep my essential oils and accessories more organized and accessible.
You’ll learn how to store your oils so that they can be taken with you on the go in this chapter, too. Again, I found myself learning a few tricks that I hadn’t thought of yet. There’s a lot of great, solid information in this course that I think everyone interested in essential oils will benefit from.
I enjoyed taking the small tests at the end of the courses but especially the one in this section of essential oil family use and organization. It asked all of the right questions and made sure that the student knows this very important information accurately.
Besides safety, I’d have to say that the essential oils for family use were my favorite section of the course. Like I said, using oils on and around yourself is one thing but when you start using them around other people, you had better know what you’re doing, and this lesson explained it all.
Great Information on Advancing Your Career in Aromatherapy
I appreciate that the course touched base on all areas of making a living utilizing your skills with essential oils. It covered multi-level marketing, e-commerce & retail stores, and becoming an essential oil coach.
These are all great ways to make money and help others while doing it. The lesson talked about how to get started in these various niches and what you need to do to get your foot in the door when starting a new essential oil career. I found the information to be factual and highly informative.
It’s Time to Wrap Things Up
The last lesson in the course consists of a brief conclusion that gives an overview of everything you just learned by highlighting some of the most important points. I thought it was a great way to end this course. It was positive and upbeat and made me feel excited and accomplished. I think this is important for a beginning aromatherapist because it inspires them to get started with their essential oil career and apply all the new knowledge they’ve just learned through the course.
All in all, I found the Introduction to Essential Oils course to be sufficient and on point with factual information. I highly recommend that anyone wanting to learn about essential oils utilize this course as it is a great starting point full of baseline pearls of wisdom. It promotes safety and many other important components of being a responsible essential oil user.
There’s even a bonus lesson, but you’ll have to purchase the course to learn more about that!
