Emotional Stress Causes Illness – Avoid It
It’s true that too much stress brings on disease. That is why when trouble comes to us those who survive and thrive deal with the stress effectively. When in the middle of those rough seas on the sailboat if Grandpa had crumpled and sat down for a good cry I probably wouldn’t be here now to write this. Instead he channeled whatever fear he felt into focused effective captaining that boat to safety. He did what had to be done.
When times get rough, you are going to have to do what has to be done without looking back, without wishing the present away. Effective living means going at it with 100% of what you have at your disposal. Life is not easy now, it’s not going to be any easier later and know this for certain, life has really never been easy.
As you gather together food, supplies, seeds, books and other learning tools, remember what I’ve said today about keeping your emotions, especially stressful ones, under control. Plan to have whatever it is that you need to help you cope with stress on hand. If it is SSRI drugs, be aware that you need months of weaning off of them, they cannot be quit cold turkey. Talk to your physician and have enough on hand to carry you through the quitting process or at least until you can reasonably know you can get another prescription. If it is comfort foods, plan to have them accessible. Don’t neglect the things that give you emotional stability because when everything is haywire you will be need all the help you can get to stay strong for your family’s sake. Practice and encourage the things that bring sanity to your soul. Most of all, cultivate the relationship you have with your Creator. These things can keep you going through the toughest of times. They are what get me through rough seas.
