It was hard to find good, clean meat at an affordable price for Jenna from The Flip Flop Barnyard, her husband, and 6 children so they decided to raise their own meat. They started with chickens and then got some piglets. The very first thing they learned was that you shouldn’t chase pigs and the second thing they learned is that pigs won’t come home on their own. She shares some tips that they learned the hard way about fencing pigs in.
Listen to hear the different things Jenna and her husband do as they try to raise their pigs with natural methods. They avoid a heavy grain based diet for the pigs and give them lots of natural land to root in. They use diatomaceous earth, apple cider vinegar and certain seeds for de-wormers. The DE powder and essential oil she uses helps keep the mites and bugs away too.
Her encouragement is that if you want to raise pigs – then go for it!
